## Why Teams Move from ClickUp to monday.com

ClickUp packs a lot into one app. Teams usually look at monday.com when they want a simpler set-up that more people in the company will use every day, with boards, dashboards and automations they can change themselves.

Our [ClickUp vs monday.com comparison](https://www.taskrhino.ca/project-management-software/clickup-vs-monday/) goes through the differences.

## What Moves, What We Rebuild, What Cannot Move

Data moves through ClickUp's exports and API; customizations such as automations, views and forms are rebuilt in monday.com.

## How the Migration Runs

Every step is agreed with you before the next one starts.

### Free assessment

We look at your ClickUp Spaces and Lists, item counts, files and automations, and send a fixed quote with the list of what moves, what we rebuild and what cannot move.

### Data map

Each part of ClickUp becomes a monday.com board, group, item or column of the right type. You sign off the map, including what to leave behind.

### Test migration

We move a sample with its comments and files, and you check it in monday.com.

### Full migration and rebuild

We move everything in scope, link the items, and rebuild your automations, views and forms in monday.com.

### Checks and handover

We compare item counts board by board, walk your team through the new boards, and hand the export files over to you.

## When ClickUp Is Still the Right Call

Moving is not always the answer. Stay on ClickUp, or plan the move carefully, if:

- Your team relies on ClickUp Docs, goals and time tracking in one place and does not want separate tools for them. Check how each maps to monday.com in the assessment first.
- You have a few small Spaces and Lists with no comments or files you need to keep. A spreadsheet import is enough.

### Doing it yourself, compared

The options monday.com gives you, set against a full migration. Each fact comes from the sources below.

| | Spreadsheet import (CSV or Excel) | TaskRhino migration |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Task fields | The columns in your CSV, as Number, Status, Email, Date or Text into a new board | Every field, including custom fields |
| Subtasks | Arrive as items | Subitems under their task |
| Comments and attachments | Not imported (nothing goes into updates) | Comments as updates, files in a Files column |
| Automations, docs and views | Not moved | Rebuilt in monday.com |

The assessment tells you which of these apply before you commit.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Can I move ClickUp to monday.com myself?

monday.com has no built-in ClickUp import. You can export a CSV from ClickUp and import it as a spreadsheet, but subtasks then arrive as plain items and comments and files stay behind.

### Do comments and attachments move?

ClickUp's CSV export includes each task's comments and the names and links of its attachments. We copy comments into the item's updates and attachments into a Files column.

### What happens to our automations, views and forms?

No export carries them. We list each one in the assessment and rebuild the ones you still need as monday.com automations, views, forms and dashboards.

### What cannot be moved?

Change history (who changed what, and when): An import can't write monday.com's activity log; it starts on the day of the move. Everything else in the table above either moves or is rebuilt in monday.com.

### How long does it take?

It depends on how many Spaces and Lists and items you have, how many files, and how much needs rebuilding. The dates are fixed in your quote after the free assessment.

### How much does it cost?

It depends on your Spaces and Lists, item counts, files and automations. The assessment is free and ends with a fixed quote.
