Why Companies Move Between monday.com Accounts
Companies move between monday.com accounts after a merger or a split, when a team set up its own account and now has to join the company one, or when an agency hands a client the boards it built.
monday.com's own Cross Account Copier handles simple cases. When the move includes private boards, many teams or a different data region, a planned migration is safer. Our guide to monday.com explains how accounts, workspaces and boards fit together.

How the Migration Runs
- 01
Free assessment
Duration: Free
We look at both accounts with you: plans, regions, workspaces and what each team needs to keep.
- 02
Scan and mapping
Duration: Before any data moves
The engine reads every workspace and board and checks its counts against monday.com’s own item counts. You approve how boards and people map to the new account.
- 03
Test run
Duration: On a sample first
We move the boards you pick into the new account and you check them, before anything else moves.
- 04
Full move
Duration: Dates fixed in your quote
Everything in scope is copied while your team keeps working in the old account. Changes made there during the move are copied too.
- 05
Verify and hand over
Duration: Before you switch over
Every object is checked against the old account; problems found are retried and checked again. We rebuild automations, views, forms and integrations, and agree the switch-over with you.
When You May Not Need Us
Moving is not always the answer. You may not need us if:
- Your boards are Main boards in one folder, both accounts are in the same data region, everyone uses the same email in both, and you don't need the result checked. monday.com's Cross Account Copier is built in and carries active automations across; use it.
Doing it yourself, compared
The options monday.com gives you, set against a full migration. Each fact comes from the sources below.
| monday.com's Cross Account Copier | TaskRhino migration | |
|---|---|---|
| What it copies | A folder of Main boards and dashboards; not private or shareable boards | The workspaces and boards you choose, including multi-level boards |
| People | Only people with the same email in both accounts; other people’s updates show as a general monday.com user | People matched by email address in the new account |
| Automations | Active automations carry over; ones that use integrations do not | Listed by the scan and rebuilt by hand |
| Checking the result | Not part of it | Counts checked against monday.com’s own item counts, every object verified, problems retried |
The assessment tells you which of these apply before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I move boards between monday.com accounts myself?
Yes, with monday.com's Cross Account Copier, if you are an admin on both accounts with the same email. It copies a folder of Main boards and dashboards. Private and shareable boards, the activity log, form share links and Emails & Activities history do not transfer, and it does not copy between US and EU servers.
Do comments and files move?
Yes. Comments are copied into each item's updates, and files into their Files columns. Comments on archived or deleted items are skipped, and the report lists each one with the reason.
Can my team keep working during the move?
Yes. The engine copies from the old account while your team keeps working in it, and changes made there during the move are copied too, until you switch over.
What cannot be moved?
monday.com's API can't create automations or most views, and can't write the activity log, so automations, views, forms and integrations are rebuilt by hand. Archived items can't be changed, so they stay behind unless you restore them first. Color picker values arrive as text.
How long does it take?
It depends on how many boards and items you have and on the API budget of both accounts, which monday.com sets per account. The dates are fixed in your quote after the free assessment.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your boards, items, files and automations. The assessment is free and ends with a fixed quote.
